Did you know that September 20, 2017 marks the 100th anniversary of the Income Tax Act?

Topic Description

Payroll professionals in Canada are collectively responsible for remitting $313 billion in statutory remittances to federal and provincial governments annually. While many of us rely on payroll software that has been programmed to calculate these amounts, as professionals we need to be able to provide oversight on these remittances. What’s more, we need to be prepared when employees have questions about their payroll deductions.

Join the CPA on this momentous anniversary to examine how payroll income tax works. We will answer questions such as:

  • How is net taxable income determined?
  • How do TD1/TP.1015 exemptions impact income tax deductions?
  • What is the difference between a marginal tax rate and an average tax rate?
  • Why do bonus payments seem to have a higher tax deduction?
  • Are there ways employees can lower their tax at source?
  • How does payroll income tax work for employers in Quebec?

This informative webinar will be facilitated by Payroll Compliance Advisors from the Compliance Services and Programs department at the CPA and will include a 60 minute live presentation and a 30 minute session to answer live and pre-submitted questions.

Participants are invited to submit their questions in advance by e-mailing Webinars@payroll.ca before September 11, 2017.
