Garnishments are complicated, and you’ll need to handle them in both a delicate and professional manner. They can also be extremely personal for employees impacted by them. Ensuring you have the knowledge you need to do so is absolutely vital.
Employers are required under legislation and by law to enforce garnishments, family support, maintenance orders and certain wage assignments. As such, employers are required to withhold a specified amount or percentage of an employee's wages and remit the amount to the applicable court or government agency.
This seminar provides a complete overview of the legislation, policies, and processes governing garnishments (federal and provincial), family support, maintenance orders and wage assignments, and their impact on payroll.
