National Payroll Institute - Payroll Rebooted: Rethinking Payroll's Role in the Next Era of Work (Complimentary)

Payroll has long lived in the background, only drawing attention when problems occur. But that outdated view no longer reflects the strategic impact it delivers today.

At its core, this session is about one idea: Payroll is a people-promise. Every payslip is more than a transaction; it’s a moment of trust that can reinforce or weaken confidence in an organisation.

Participants will explore a practical reboot roadmap: Reassess, Reimagine, Reconnect and Rebuild—a framework for redefining payroll’s value and rebuilding credibility through visible action.

About the Facilitator

Ian Giles

Ian Giles spent more than half his life in payroll and workforce management, working across operations, implementation, target operating model design, vendor management, advisory, sales and marketing. His experience spans start-up, scale-up and enterprise organisations across multiple industries, overseeing pay and time for more than 100,000 employees per payroll cycle in over 170 countries.

A regular speaker and writer on global payroll strategy, compliance, risk and operational excellence, he is known for translating complex challenges into practical outcomes for payroll professionals. He actively contributes to the profession globally, nationally and locally through education, mentoring and thought leadership. Ian also serves on the PAYO Global Payroll Editorial Advisory Board, the Strategic Payroll Leadership Task Force, the Government Relations Task Force and is an HR.com Advisory Board Member and holds a Payroll Degree from the Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals and the University of Derby.
