Processing Complex Termination Settlements - Recorded Webinar

No reviews
When an organization terminates an employment relationship, payroll professionals are tasked with processing final payments. These settlements may include a retiring allowance or a salary continuance, claims for damages, legal fees or other post-employment benefits. It is essential to understand the taxation and reporting requirements for each type of payment or benefit provided.
This webinar answers questions such as:
- Can a settlement be treated as a salary continuance if the employee requests installment payments over a period of time?
- Are claims for damages non-taxable?
- When paying the employee’s legal fees, is the amount taxable and reportable?
- How do we treat payments provided in lieu of certain benefits at termination?
Participants can email questions ahead of time to infoline@payroll.ca.
