- Handling terminations as a result of performance issues.
- Ensuring proper documentation, including what goes into a termination letter.
- How to manage terminating an employee during or after a leave of absence.
- Terminating an employee in a union to align with collective agreements.
- Managing cases involving discrimination, harassment, misconduct, etc.
Part 2
- Classification of required payments, including cases where negotiations are handled through legal counsel.
- The difference between a retiring allowance and a salary continuance:
- Are all payments referenced as damages considered non-taxable?
- Are legal fees paid by the employer considered taxable and reportable?
- Various types of payments included in a termination settlement, how to process them accurately, and how to comply with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and Revenu Québec (RQ).
