Modernization of the Workers’ Compensation Act – Submission to Yukon Workers’ Compensation Health and Safety Boar

Modernization of Workers’ Compensation Act – Submission to Yukon Workers’ Compensation Health and Safety Board

The Canadian Payroll Association thanks The Yukon Workers’ Compensation Health and Safety Board for the opportunity to provide feedback on the Modernization of the Workers’ Compensation Act.

The Yukon Workers’ Compensation Health and Safety Board (WCHSB) remittance process is important because it ensures that workers are aware of their rights and supports employers in their efforts to create safe and productive work environments. This document contains a recommendation on how to streamline workers’ compensation remittance collection while improving workers’ health and safety, compliance with the Workers’ Compensation Act, and increasing the Board’s revenue.

Specifically, the recommendation is for the Board to use the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) to collect employer premiums while the Government of Yukon would continue to exercise sole authority over premium setting, work and safety policy, adjudication of claims, etc.
