2024 Federal Pre-Budget Consultations – Recommendations from the National Payroll Institute

The National Payroll Institute is a key stakeholder and trusted advisor to government. As part of this advocacy work, the Institute participates in pre-budget consultations, and on July 26, 2023, we made a pre-budget submission to Finance Canada with the following recommendations:

Recommendation 1: That the government advance the ePayroll project from ideation to a co-design phase.

Recommendation 2: That the government introduce cost savings through taxable benefit initiatives, harmonization and simplification.

Recommendation 3: That the government make the working-from-home expense claim simplifications permanent for all Canadians.

Recommendation 4: That the government work with the National Payroll Institute and other stakeholders to create a Future of Pay Advisory Group to address the changing employment landscape.
