Irena Stoyanova, PLP holds the Payroll Leadership Professional designation. She is a Payroll Compliance Advisor with the National Payroll Institute, where she provides payroll compliance expertise to the Institute’s members through Payroll Infoline and supports training and professional development through various initiatives, resources and key projects.
Irena delivers the Institute's Professional Development seminars and webinars and instructs the Fundamentals of Payroll courses of the PCP designation program.
With close to 20 years of payroll experience, as a subject matter expert, Irena has been providing value-added services to organizations by advising on legislative changes as well as streamlining and improving payroll and business processes.

Alice Maracle is a payroll and finance professional with extensive experience supporting nonprofit organizations, private sector companies and community-driven initiatives. Currently serving as Finance Coordinator at Discovered Intelligence and Director of Finance at the New Grocery Movement, Alice leads initiatives in payroll compliance, systems integration and operational governance. She implemented payroll frameworks during organizational transitions, designed audit-ready reporting systems and recently completed a Finance Transformation internship with KPMG. Alice is passionate about inclusive payroll education and equipping professionals with the tools to navigate complex and evolving compliance obligations.

During this webinar, we will determine if all First Nation or indigenous employees are exempt from income tax withholding and will discuss:
- Documents employers should request and review;
- How to complete the TD1-IN form;
- Requirements for withholding and remitting C/QPP contributions and EI/QPIP premiums and year-end reporting; and
- Considerations related to other employer payroll expenses such as workers’ compensation premiums and employer health taxes.
